Buddy was a child in an orphanage, which was kept in Santa’s bag and ended up at the North Pole. Later, as an adult growing up with fairies, Santa Claus allows him to travel to New York to meet his paternal grandfather, Walter Hobbs. Hobbes, who was on Santa’s list of jokes for being a heartless idiot, had no idea that Buddy was born. Meanwhile, Buddy experiences the joy of New York (and human culture) that only a fairy can feel. When Walter’s relationship with Buddy interferes with his work, he is forced to reconsider his priority.
